About this trip
The 4 Days High Atlas Loop is a rewarding circular trek that links two of the most beautiful valleys of the High Atlas — the Ait Mizane and the Azzaden — without requiring a summit attempt. Starting and ending in Imlil, you cross the Tizi Mzik pass (2,489 m) into the Azzaden valley, trek through walnut groves and Berber villages, climb over the Tizi n'Lbour and Tizi n'Tamaterte passes, and descend back to Imlil. Each night is spent in a village guesthouse with home-cooked food. With moderate daily ascents and 5–6 hours of walking, this loop is ideal for fit walkers who want a complete Atlas valleys experience in a short time.
Day-by-day itinerary
Marrakech – Imlil – Tizi Mzik – Tizi Oussem
Drive from Marrakech to Imlil and begin the trek over the Tizi Mzik pass (2,489 m), with sweeping views of the Ait Mizane valley. Descend into the Azzaden valley to the village of Tizi Oussem (1,900 m) for the first night in a Berber guesthouse.

Tizi Oussem – Azzaden Valley – Assaka
Follow the Azzaden river downstream through walnut groves and terraced fields, passing several small Berber villages. Stop for lunch by a spring, then continue to the village of Assaka for the second night in a family guesthouse.

Assaka – Tizi n'Lbour Pass – Imsker – Tachddirt
Climb out of the Azzaden valley over the Tizi n'Lbour pass (2,100 m) into the Imnane valley, passing through Imsker and several Berber villages. Continue over the Tizi n'Tamaterte pass (2,279 m) to the village of Tachddirt for the third night.

Tachddirt – Imlil – Marrakech
Descend from Tachddirt back to Imlil along the mule track, with lunch on a terrace under walnut trees. Transfer by vehicle back to Marrakech in the afternoon.
